Truro, NS - July 6, 2013 - Things are coming along and the excitement is building for The 9th Annual Dutch Mason Blues Festival, August 9-11 at the Truro Raceway and Exhibition Grounds.


The big news came recently when Festival organizers announced the legendary Elwood and Zee , The Blues Brothers featuring Dan Aykroyd and and Jim Belushi will headline Saturday, August 10, 2013. The two mega stars put together a personal invite for fans across Canada. The Dutch Mason Blues Festival is their only scheduled appearance.





Sacred Hearts Band has also been announced for the festival. With the main stage running until 1am and the ever popular entertainment tent open until 3am, organizers promise there will be no hotter spot this summer.


Along with The Blues Brothers the festival features blues legend James Cotton, Guitar Shorty, Lucky Peterson, Phillip Sayce, and Shirley King.  Maple Blues Award winner/Juno nominee Steve Hill and Nova Scotia's favorite blues rocker Matt Minglewood, who recently received a lifetime achievement award at 2013 Canadian Maple Blues Awards are also performing. Celebrating their 35th anniversary tour this summer, Tom Lavin and the legendary Powder Blues will headline Sunday August 11th. For over three decades Powder Blues has been Canada's premier blues band.


The Dutch Mason Blues Festival pays tribute to Canada's Prime Minister of the Blues. Dutch Mason passed away in 2006. He was 68.  There is a lot of activity that surrounds the festival.  Campground bookings are available online. The festival also holds the Atlantic Canada’s Motorcyle and Lifestyle Show and a popular Maritime Bar-B-Q Competition. The mortercyle show features the pro build and custom bike competition, vitage and classic bikes and a best tattoo competiton. The Bar-b-que competiton serves up plenty of ribs to determine the best ribs and sauce.
